I am a diciple of Mark Twain

I have always been a "precocious" child. I learned at a young age how to dupe my friends and family into doing what I want them to do. I attribute this to my natural Tom Sawyer ability to convince people that doing me a favour is fun. Today is Mark Twain's Birthday! Happy Birthday Mr. Clemens! I would like to thank our dark overlords over at Google for putting up a birthday tribute which is thoughtful inspiring and based on my favourite part of Tom Sawyer.. Paying Tom Sawyer... To White Wash A Fence.  Here.. listen to Tom Sawyer by Rush

Then.. watch this legomation.. narrated by a little Russian boy.. of the best scene in literature.
Wasn't that AMAZING!?!?!?!

It is getting to be that time, where you want to start making snow flakes on the interwebs, here is a link so that you can do it.

Because.. Canada is awesome, we are curing anemia in Cambodia by tricking people into cooking with a large chunks of iron in their stews by turning it into a magical fish charm that is good luck. What is your country doing?

I was watching My Drunk Kitchen during lunch yesterday, her description of what Toronto is, is pretty accurate. My husband however, said that she is offensive.. I think that she is just drunk.

I have recently joined Good Reads! You should be my friend. Good Reads is essentially a look what I have read website, it also makes it so that you can join Book Clubs. I recently joined a book club with members from the BC Creative Geeks and BC Browncoats. Our first book we are going to read is going to be about DRAGONS! :D * is a geeky nerdy dork*

Have a good day

Geek Christmas

Hello Blog Readers,

I have had a busy few weeks, so I am sorry that my life has been either not news worth or too new worthy to have time to write about it.

Things are chugging along here in Anne Land. I have been alternating between being super busy at work.. and having some sort of illness that makes me sound like Kathleen Turner or a drag queen. I have also, been busy trying to organize a pre-Halloween party at the local geek hangout which happened last night. IT WAS OFF THE WALL.. and pictures will be posted soon. I ended up not being "Desaturated" as my costume.. but instead being a House Gremlin. You know.. the thing that misplaces your keys, your bus pass, puts your shoes in your freezer and in general steals all of your dame socks. It was lots of fun. A member of the group who hangs out there.. brought his 8ft. tall Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.. and let me tell you something.. by the end of the night.. that thing got more action than Gene Simmons! EVERYONE LOVED THAT THING!:)

Today, I am going to be a Zombie Wrangler for Thrill The World.  Tomorrow.. I rest.. because you know.. fighting off the drag queen cold and all.. and then MONDAY IS HALLOWEEN! For work.. I will be doing a variant of the costume I did for last night.. but instead of being a House Gremlin.. I am going to be an office one.. this will consist of me wearing a suit, with messed up technical memos and reports stapled to it.. with binder clips in my hair and jewelry made of paperclips. I will probably also have pens and file folders that look like there have teeth marks bit out of it. It should be fun... then I shall come home and make Peter watch Rocky Horror Picture (for the very first time.. he is a "virgin") and It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!... because.. I am still 6.

So, universe.. what are YOU doing for Halloween?!

Jurassic Park! CURSE YOUR SUDDEN BUT INEVITABLE BETRAYAL

I went to a showing of Jurassic Park, on Thursday, as a benefit to help a girl raise money to fight cancer. It was such a great time. The movie has stood up well story and SFX wise, but there are moments where you realize that HOLY SHIT! THIS MOVIE WAS MADE IN THE EARLY 90's!

Jeff Goldblum is Watching You Poop!

One of my bestest friends in the world is named Matt.. this guy named Matt is not him.. however, I want to be his friend, he travels the world doing a jig and then tries to get other people to join him. It is super inspirational and it is great to see that no matter where you go, you will find people who like to be silly. Where The Hell Is Matt?

I have always wondered what it would be like to see what I look like doing something.. from the point of view of thing I am using... there are times where I look at myself in my webcam while typing. I look smart. This is what a hula hoop thinks of you..

Epbot is pretty neat! So is steampunk!

Today at 3:30 PM I finally did something about the terrible funk of depression that I have been wallowing.. I went to a Meetup. I spent time around humans.

Last time I posted was.. April 22nd. Thus making it a month and a week since my last blog post. I fail. Here is what has been going on with me.

I have been temping. Temping is actually a great way to get money and learn the native culture if you are new to a country. It also, will allow you to put a reference on your resume that is from the same country/state/province.

My temp agency also does the whole temp-to-hire thing, so in theory they are going to be working with me on finding a more permanent solution to my lack of steady income.

You would think that with all of this free time of not having a job, I would have had more time to scour the internet for more interesting and exciting things to be put up here.. but really it just turned me into a fat slob who hated life and wanted to do nothing but listen to Morrisey and play video games. Which is what I have been doing for the last month and a week.

Today however, today.. I went to the dollar store and got craft supplies, these supplies were acrylic paints, brushes and a picture frame. Before I went there.. I printed out a diagram of the Deathstar. I also printed out the Disney script font. But that is another thing I am going to try and do to occupy the time my friends and family no longer occupy.

I went to the Creative Geek Society Meetup, plunked myself down and totally did a pretty bad ass picture of the Deathstar, on glass and then painted a star mat behind it with the letters "I" and "U" on it in blue ( because that is the color of the light side" so that when the glass is over the mat it reads. "I" * DEATHSTAR* "U". There will be a picture up here soon of what I did. I then watched a group of geeks practice the Thriller dance for a flash mob. I felt so happy and geeky. It was rad. I need to do things like this more often.

I have also started trying to work on my penmanship. The only way I know how to do this is to daily work on it. However, I just don't want some boring script that looks like a mix between 14 year old girl hand writing and someone with cripple hand.. I want handwriting that screams hella fancy and nerdy... so....
Walt Disney font it is.

I am also, trying to learn how to play the guitar. I bought my husband an acoustic many years ago.. either for xmas or his birthday.. and well.. I am trying to learn how to play it. I however, am noticing that this is definitely a man hand guitar and not a girl hand guitar. I have been told however, that with practice, comes the ability to contort my tiny girl hands into the weird Vulcan death grips that one needs to play the guitar.

So, that is it my friends. I am going to try * I know I say this a lot* and be more diligent about posting ( it would help if people commented and let me know that they actually read this garbage.).

Live long and prosper, may the force be with you, Zai jian, Smoke me a kipper-I'll be back in the morning!
