Boxing Day

Good Morning Blog Readers,

So, in blog news. I almost deleted my blog today. I have been uninspired and inconsistent with this puppy for the last few months. I believe that most of it had to do with stress and my life getting in the way of my thoughts.  However, as I sat here, typing out a do long and thanks for all the fish type message, I feel like I was about to kill my child. I knew at that point, I needed to resist the urge to give up on it.  I just need to be less lazy. I need to make more time for this. I think that I just need to refine what I am doing in my life and what I am showing to the world. It will not be a random dump of links and shit, but really just an honest assessment of what I see and how I see it. There will be things that I show on here that will be in the realm of , " Oh, hey, I think this is cool." but I think that from now on, I need to blog with purpose. Call it a New Years Resolution. I do however, like the only people reading this right now are guys who are Googling Jenna Mourey and reading the post I made about her when I first started this blog. I really like 25 hits a day for that blog post alone. Hopefully, they will read this letter and leave me a comment, or learn history or something. I can dream, right?

Ok, now to the post of the day. Today is Boxing Day in Commonwealth countries. If you are American, it is most like Black Friday. Boxing Day is going to be somewhat of a Pajama Holiday, from now on. It is a day to recover from the craziness of KwanzChannakahYuleMas. This year, we are watching the start of the Juniors, being sleepy and recovering from.. my very first ice skating adventure.

We went to Robson Square in Downtown Vancouver. My dear husband taped my ankles with hockey tape and we got me in some skates. I made it around the rink a couple of times on my own, I had my hand on the rail for most of the time.. I didn't fall, that was a plus. I think that since I didn't eat shit and die my first time out.. that I will try and continue to learn how to stay up my own.

This week I do not have to go into work, because.. well..my job is kinda rad like that ( side note, they finally hired me, I am not longer a temp.. I am a real admin.)  I shall spend this time cleaning my apartment and starting the packing I will need to do, because we are giving notice on the 1st. I will also be doing a New Years day Wii Bowling Tournament, at the local geek hangout.

I have always been a "precocious" child. I learned at a young age how to dupe my friends and family into doing what I want them to do. I attribute this to my natural Tom Sawyer ability to convince people that doing me a favour is fun. Today is Mark Twain's Birthday! Happy Birthday Mr. Clemens! I was watching My Drunk Kitchen during lunch yesterday, her description of what Toronto is, is pretty accurate. My husband however, said that she is offensive.. I think that she is just drunk.

What I did on my Veteran's Day/ Remembrance Day Vacation

I went to Montreal to visit family over the long weekend that was Veteran's Day/Remembrance Day up in Canada.  It was a great time, filled with family and friends and spousal bonding.  I ate food I was allergic too, but also found some thing that were amazing to behold and felt like they should be in my life more often.

Live blogging my trip to my in-laws..

I am sitting at the Calgary Airport.. it is pretty good. I am glad that airports offer free wifi.. and I am glad that my netbook is awesome. I can blog anywhere as long as I can get a signal. I would like to say that also.. I hate flying and that I am easily amused.

These are the cool kinetic sculptures I am sitting under right now while waiting for my flight to board. SOOOoooOooooooOOOOo cool.

I also, learned somethings today.. like.. when you see a double rainbow.. it is really just a rainbow that is being refracted twice through the rain drops... that is also the reason why they are mirror images of each other. 

They are about to board my plane.. so I have to go but thanks for being there for me internet family.

Geek Christmas

Hello Blog Readers,

I have had a busy few weeks, so I am sorry that my life has been either not news worth or too new worthy to have time to write about it.

Things are chugging along here in Anne Land. I have been alternating between being super busy at work.. and having some sort of illness that makes me sound like Kathleen Turner or a drag queen. I have also, been busy trying to organize a pre-Halloween party at the local geek hangout which happened last night. IT WAS OFF THE WALL.. and pictures will be posted soon. I ended up not being "Desaturated" as my costume.. but instead being a House Gremlin. You know.. the thing that misplaces your keys, your bus pass, puts your shoes in your freezer and in general steals all of your dame socks. It was lots of fun. A member of the group who hangs out there.. brought his 8ft. tall Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.. and let me tell you something.. by the end of the night.. that thing got more action than Gene Simmons! EVERYONE LOVED THAT THING!:)

Today, I am going to be a Zombie Wrangler for Thrill The World.  Tomorrow.. I rest.. because you know.. fighting off the drag queen cold and all.. and then MONDAY IS HALLOWEEN! For work.. I will be doing a variant of the costume I did for last night.. but instead of being a House Gremlin.. I am going to be an office one.. this will consist of me wearing a suit, with messed up technical memos and reports stapled to it.. with binder clips in my hair and jewelry made of paperclips. I will probably also have pens and file folders that look like there have teeth marks bit out of it. It should be fun... then I shall come home and make Peter watch Rocky Horror Picture (for the very first time.. he is a "virgin") and It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!... because.. I am still 6.

This is Anne.. This is Anne gloating that she isn't at work and all of her American family and friends are.
I am really damn tired. I stayed up late last night at a orphan's thanksgiving party that we were invited to. I made a vegan green bean casserole.. complete with wheat free fried shallots.. and a pumpkin mousse pie with coconut whipped topping. It was fancy. I didn't get to bed until 1 am.. then I woke up at my normal Monday wake up time.. messed around on the internet for an hour... and then went back to bed. It is a pajama day today.

Thanksgiving.. in Canada! It happens in October..

Today is Canadian Thanksgiving. It happens in October. It is designed to give us a three day weekend in October. I am going to an orphan Thanksgiving dinner party tonight. I should be fun, I am making food I can eat. I haven't had much inspiration to look for cool things.. but this morning, I managed to search the interwebs for  things I think you should look at.

Freddie For A Day is getting really amazing press. It makes me amped for next year and giving me courage to do it.

I had some "losses" in the family this week. My cat Justice passed away and then my "sisters'" cat Clarence also went to the land of eternal catnip/nap.

This was my Justice. We got her from PAWS when she was just a kitten. We needed to get our other cat Tjorwuhlyn ( said Tora-Lyn... don't ask) a kitten because our other cat Kelson passed away because he was old and had everything that a cat could have that would make them sick :(

I miss her.. she was a jerk. She would steal whole steaks and ignore you until you ignored her and then she would be all up in your grill. She was in love with Pinny. They became besties for the year I lived with my mom.

All in all.. my life at this point has been busy/boring. I PROMISE that I will update more soon this week. It is Canadian Thanksgiving and all.
