First off.
I HAVE A NEW JOB!!!! Kinda.. I have been transferred to a new division so now, I do not have to rage murder people I work with for being stupid. This is a plus.
Second off.. where the hell did 2012 go. It is November!
I learned how to do the Thriller Dance.. and then did it in public..
I started a blog with Peter about how he has celiacs.
Um, I am part of a new Meetup Group that promotes cross fandom/nerdom cooperation.
I am amping up for the winter, which should mean, nerdy ornaments, more gluten free baking and possibly drunk snowtubing for my birthday.

Boring life for an exciting girl.. something has got to give.
Last time I managed the post on this blog, it was just after Father's Day.. and a lot has "happened".
Peter and I are STILL PLAYING THAT DAMN GAME OF RISK! and by playing it I mean.. we haven't touched it since. and I am pretty sure that we will never play it again.
The husband got diagnosed with Celiac's Disease. I was told that I wasn't allergic to everything in the world.. just wheat and wheat type products, eggs and milk. We are still making adjustments to our lifestyle to accommodate this.
Pincushion has changed his living habits.. and has completely and totally forsaken his beloved wheel. He has now taking up "pedestrianism" and started doing a circuit of patrolling the habitat.
Zilly, is Zilly. She just is chillin' like a villain most of the time.
I have 9 more days until something epically life changing is going to happen to me workwise.
I still have a Pinterest addiction... it makes my StumbleUpon addiction jealous.
You should read this really interesting article about Dennis Hopper.. the photographer.

A lot can happen in a girls life in a month...
I have CBAD. What is CBAD, you my ask? It is Compulsive Blogger Apology Disorder. It is when a blogger is lazy, and apologizes at the beginning of most of their posts.
Lets see what is new..
I started a blog with my friend Andrea. It is called AnneVsAndrea. We challenge each other to do things and then we blog about it. It is pretty cool, you should check it out.
I found Pinterest.. and now spend about 30 minutes a day staring at cool shit I may never have.
Wil Wheaton, talked in a podcast about this card game that is "free" called Card Against Humanity. It is like Apples to Apples, but for all of the wrong people in your life. How can you not love a game where one of the cards is "two midgets shitting in a bucket"?
I started reading a self-help book by Chris Hardwick, called The Nerdist Way. It is amazing.
I started playing Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, 2 months ago.. and I am almost done with it.
I have started a new obsession with the game Risk. I against boys in foreign countries online.. and last night, started playing a game with my husband and my father ( who came up for Father's Day). Even though my dad is a military minded gentlemen with many hours logged watching The History Channel, I wiped the floor with him.. and now my husband and I are at a "Mexican Standoff". We are quite literally "fighting in a land war in Asia", which is one thing you are never supposed to do, along with "go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line".
\
But for the most part, my life is footloose and fancy free.

This is what the situation is right now, on my kitchen table.
This is how you play Risk
This is what it will be like, when I am old, and "Reliving my glory days" to my children.

A Need To Survive
Good Morning Blog Readers.
I want to talk to you about something very important. The zombie apocalypse. It is going to happen. It may not happen during my life time, but it will happen I assure you. Because, I am very sure of this fact, I have convinced some of my nearest and dearest who then in return convinced some of their nearest and dearest to start a survival skills learning group for the urbanite.
We are going to learn important skills like:
Archery (bows and arrows)
Marksmanship (guns and bullets)
Lock picking
Foraging for fungus, edible plants and medicinal plants in the region that we will probably have to forage in.
Orienteering and topographical map reading.
Sailing.
Knot tying.
Gardening (including Hydroponics).
Seed Bombing/Moss Graffiti.
Canning and other methods of food preserving.
Basic shelter building.
First Aid / CPR
Fishing
and so on and so forth.
Now, here is the deal, I am doing this because I fear the apocalypse, I just know that as fat modern people, we have lost the important skills that will make the difference between surviving and not surviving when something terrible happens.
It is important that you have a survival kit in your house/car/work for when there is a disaster. You should have 3 days worth of food/water/medical supplies.
Start getting ready for the end of days kids.. because it is a comin'

Morning Has Broken...
Good Morning,
Listen to some Cat Stevens. Eat some oatmeal. Have a cup of coffee. Eat a banana. Watch the morning news.
Marvel at this upside down house that is in Australia.
Have a moment of silence and read the condolences of people who are more fortunate than you are.. to the friends, family and fans of a music pioneer.
Talk about Cabin in the Woods.. OMG THAT MOVIE WAS SO AMAZING! If you are a Joss Whedon fan, you need to watch it. When you watch it, play, OH OH! I KNOW THAT ACTOR FROM JOSS WHEDON SHOWS! Also, think about how what you are watching.. is what is going on at Wolfram and Hart.. it adds to it.
Pin some stuff on Pinterest.
Be really happy that yesterday you found a source for one of your favorite candies. ( I am in love with Choward's Violet Mints.)
Take a shower.. Go to work... Go to your favorite coffee shop after work and watch Robin Hood (the awesome Disney version.
Go to bed.

Friday the 13th
I like that my birthday is on the 12th day of the 12th month in a year that the last 2 digits equal 12. However, there are have been many times, where I wish, that I was born a day later. Then I would have been born on the 13th and I could have Friday the 13th themed birthday parties. However, where did this come from?
It looks like, it wasn't a very popular superstition until the 19th Century, says the Wikipedia.. and that the 13th is a scarier thing than the Friday.
It is looking however, that the number 13 has some serious mojo to it, not all of it bad.
As for the days of the week having meanings be it malicious or benign, I would just like to say that,
I was born on a Wednesday, which means, that I would be full of woe, which last time I checked, I wasn't the woeful kind of call. However, funny side note. My mother's maiden name is Adams, and if she had named me after the day I was born on and then double barreled my last name, I would have had the coolest name ever. I would have be able to put down Wednesday Adams!
Another cool side note, having to do with nursery rhymes and birthdays. My husband was born on a Monday, he is quite "fair of face", but...
My husband... is Solomon Grundy!
Did you know that in Jamaica, the have a "delicacy" called Solomon Gundy?.. it looks nasty.
And now.. a David Bowie song:

Tuesday's child is full of grace,
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go,
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for a living,
But the child who is born on the Sabbath Day
Is bonny and blithe and good and gay."

"Solomon Grundy,
Born on a Monday,
Christened on Tuesday,
Married on Wednesday,
Took ill on Thursday,
Grew worse on Friday,
Died on Saturday,
Buried on Sunday.
That was the end,
Of Solomon Grundy."

Reflecting back on a year in Canada
April 3rd, 2011 I moved to Canada, to start a new life. The Husband and I had been apart for a year and a half. We wanted to be able to know that we were going to be able to start a family, own walls and generally better ourselves as people. It has been a year and 3 days and I am feeling that I have finally laid the base work down to start the life I dreamed of. The life is this, "grow up", start a "career type situation", purchase four walls with a floor and a roof, have larva,
raise larva to be super heroes, kick larva out of my four walls, become old bitty who yells at kids who are on my yard, deteriorate into insane self-soiling machine, die in my sleep next to The Husband.. who will also be his version of an old bitty who pees himself. The End.
So, lets do a check.
"Grow up" - 75% there
"Start a career type situation" - Reached level 10, need to reach level OOOVVVEERR 9000!!!!!!
Purchase four walls with floor and roof- hahahahahahahahaha.. However, my apartment is pretty epic
Have larva- We are really researching this. making great strides in kinda beings sorta ready to start thinking about it.
Raise larva to be super heroes- we have super hero names picked out for the most part. we know the ethics we want to teach them. The skills we want them to have we are also starting to learn ourselves as well.
Become old bitty- ALREADY THERE!
Soil ones self- Only when I am really drunk.
Die- Long way off on that goal.
What have I done in this year. I have met a really great group of people who really care for me and show me new amazing things all the time. I have lost friends who are not worth my time because they are douchey. I have learned to knit, I have started growing my own food, I have found out I was allergic to eating food I like, I learned how to make the food I like out of food I am not allergic to. I fell in love with my husband again ( *barf* I know, totally sappy, but we will have been married for 5 years on the 16th, and I really don't think that I can find anyone better), my relationship with my parental units has become better/equally less stressful., I have a new baby sister, who is wee and amazing. I have made new "family". I LOST 50 LBS.! I am still losing. I joined a book club.
So, do you think I am doing so far?

Getting back into the swing of things
My friend Andrea and I have been lamenting that we have been bad blog mommies as of late. Yesterday, she posted her first blog post in awhile, so I figured it would make sense for me to cave to social pressures and do the same.
There are some strange assed people in this world.. people are stealing and selling TIDE LAUNDRY DETERGENT on the black market!
Insanity!
Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour,
That's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's reckoned,
A sun that is the source of all our power.
The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see
Are moving at a million miles a day
In an outer spiral arm, at forty thousand miles an hour,
Of the galaxy we call the 'Milky Way'.
Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars.
It's a hundred thousand light years side to side.
It bulges in the middle, sixteen thousand light years thick,
But out by us, it's just three thousand light years wide.
We're thirty thousand light years from galactic central point.
We go 'round every two hundred million years,
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe.
The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding
In all of the directions it can whizz
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light, you know,
Twelve million miles a minute, and that's the fastest speed there is.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure
,How amazingly unlikely is your birth,
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space,
'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth.

BRONIE ALERT! I am knitting. (not related)
I am so excited! The latest episode of MLP:FiM that I have watched.. is called The Last Round Up... and it has DERPY HOOVES IN IT!! AND THEY MENTIONED HER AS DERPY!!!! Instead of Ditzy Doo! This is a big step for the Derpy!
In other news about life... I have been a knitting fiend. I am currently working on a baby blanket and a scarf. I find this to be a relaxing and productive use of my time. I have ideas about future projects and a list of skills I want to achieve eventually. I find that there is a resurgence of people who want to know the "domestic arts" which is nice, since, usually these sort of things seem, elderly. I have also been contemplating learning to crochet, sew and make jewelry.
**I started writing this a while back, I saved it but now I feel compelled to finish it. **
Update. I have finished the baby blanket.. it is really hideous and I just got tired of it, so I casted off ( finished it) about 1-2 inches shorter than it needed to be. So, I am contemplating edging it in some sort of ribbon. I don't know why I thought that I could knit a baby blanket, thinking that I could give as a present as my first big project in under 2 months.. but there we go.
My next project is to finish my friend's scarf and then knit another (less fucking hideous) baby blanket for another co-woker.
I am however learning things about the dynamics of knitting so it isn't like it is lost time.. just that it is really unattractive.
Let us see what else is going on. My job is being incredibly stressful, hence the not posting on here for a long time. Hopefully things will settle down, I had to hired a temp because everything at my job went to shitty shit.
The hubs and I are moving to another part of the "lower mainland". We are moving from Burnaby to New Westminster. It is like moving from the International District to Ballard community wise, but more like moving from The U-District to Wallingford distance wise.
So that is about it. I am going to be posting up some recipes and stuff on my other blog, so don't forget to check that out. <3
OH! OH OH! I got really freaked out last week.. I cut my hair (I paid someone) and then I BLEACHED MY HAIR OUT! It doesn't even look bad. See, that is me knitting and looking retarded in public.
.... oh.. I am learning the Thriller Dance. You can learn to.. here is how the video breakdown and the script to memorize.

Scrabble
For Christmas I purchased the "family" Scrabble. We love Scrabble. However, there are times where I feel like it is a sentient being and is trying to tell me something.
However.. there are times where I feel like it is just a jerk... and is calling me names.
Peter also got HYRULE..
If you need a good read.. I would suggest reading the Wiki on Scrabble.
also.. fun side note.. qwerty and qwertys are acceptable words in Scrabble!
