Friday the 13th

I like that my birthday is on the 12th day of the 12th month in a year that the last 2 digits equal 12. However, there are have been many times, where I wish, that I was born a day later. Then I would have been born on the 13th and I could have Friday the 13th themed birthday parties. However, where did this come from?

It looks like, it wasn't a very popular superstition until the 19th Century, says the Wikipedia.. and that the 13th is a scarier thing than the Friday.

It is looking however, that the number 13 has some serious mojo to it, not all of it bad

As for the days of the week having meanings be it malicious or benign, I would just like to say that,

"Monday's child is fair of face
Tuesday's child is full of grace,
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go,
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for a living,
But the child who is born on the Sabbath Day
Is bonny and blithe and good and gay."

I was born on a Wednesday, which means, that I would be full of woe, which last time I checked, I wasn't the woeful kind of call. However, funny side note. My mother's maiden name is Adams, and if she had named me after the day I was born on and then double barreled my last name, I would have had the coolest name ever. I would have be able to put down Wednesday Adams!
Another cool side note, having to do with nursery rhymes and birthdays. My husband was born on a Monday, he is quite "fair of face", but...

"Solomon Grundy,
Born on a Monday,
Christened on Tuesday,
Married on Wednesday,
Took ill on Thursday,
Grew worse on Friday,
Died on Saturday,
Buried on Sunday.
That was the end,
Of Solomon Grundy."

My husband... is Solomon Grundy!
Did you know that in Jamaica, the have a "delicacy" called Solomon Gundy?.. it looks nasty.

And now.. a David Bowie song:
