You know I'll never be lonely.. you're my only... you're my best friend.. Freddie Mercury.

I woke up this morning all gung-ho about posting the Home Star Runner -Labor Day Song.. However.. today is a day that is more important than Labor Day..

Today, would have been Freddie Mercury's 65th Birthday. I wrote in the past about John Lennon's Birthday.. and how he was a visionary.  Even though I love John Lennon.. I would trade him in for Freddie Mercury.

I have a great personal connection with him.. I was raised in Drag Queen Land.  Many of my mother's friends when I was very young, were amazingly sensitive, charismatic, imaginative, creative gay men who wanted to change the world with their ability to sing show tunes in 6 in. stilettos and sequined mini dress.

I was a strange, awkward and misunderstood child. I talked weird, played weird, dressed weird and felt like no one understood me. My mother being a smart and insightful person, introduced me to glam rock , girl metal and punk.. in the hopes that I would see people just like me and feel a sense of acceptance. I did, and my "Uncle Freddy" was the ring leader.

I remember pretty vividly listening to the Flash soundtrack in my underpants and a sheet in a weird toga/cape thing, wearing my mom's makeup and dancing like I was a rooster/snake/ballerina. I didn't give a shit, I was being like my idle.. "Uncle Freddie!"

This is the man I wanted to be when I grew up.
I also find it so amazing that he is a rock god, in a world where most men who listen to rock are homophobic, was well... A QUEEN!

Next year, I shall be participating in Freddie For A Day. I gotta start working on my costume so that it is really epic!

Please read this letter from Brian May over at the Google Blog.

Please go post a Birthday Message to Freddie over at HappyBirthdayFreddieMercury.com

Go to YouTube and watch the birthday messages from celebrities, the 65th birthday tribute video, that shows you who Freddie really was, and of course watch Queen Videos all day.

That Makes Sense

Have you ever spent time thinking about things.. things that you learned about in school and then kinda took for granted? I have recently been dealing with the rehabilitation of the Hedgehog's Sense of Balance. He is doing A LOT better. Really the biggest concern for me was, "is he ever going to be able to run in his wheel again?!:(" You might ask why I worry about this, I know that he is alive and he is not walking around being derpy very much anymore, besides a slight head cock and now when he has to make a turn he doesn't just turn he just does a circle till he is at the right degree. However, he is a runner.. he loves his wheel. It is how you can tell your hedgehog is happy, they do what they love to do.. all the time. Well, Pinny loves to eat, sleep, poop, scratch at the bottom of his cage and RUN ON HIS WHEEL. So, you can imagine my sense of despair when he got sick and the possibility of him not being able to run on his wheel became a harsh reality for him and me. However, the other day he totally ran on his wheel.. and he did it again last night. This is good. :D

Having to deal with this, is making me very aware of senses. There are many senses beyond the base 5.

Proprioception: This sense gives you the ability to tell where your body parts are, relative to other body parts. Close your eyes and touch your nose. Did you jab your eye out? Did you not touch your nose.. but really picked our nose? Did you shove your finger in you bellybutton? No. That is why.

Chemoreceptors: These trigger an area of the medulla in the brain that is detects blood born hormones and drugs. This is the part of your brain that makes you puke. It is also the part of your brain that dictates heart rate, breathing and taste. In theory.. you can say that your heart beats because you can taste.

But then there are other senses that are a bit more profound or mystical.. self of unique identity. We are all special and different. However, humans for the most part, want to all look and act alike. I wish that we could start showing our uniqueness on a visual level.. like Whale Sharks. The article linked, is about Scientists have been able to start tracking whale sharks with star mapping software. This is because whale sharks have unique spot/star patterns on their backs much like each area of sky had different stars/spots in its regions. I do wish that someday, there is a way to uniquely identify each person on earth.. so that we can see what they are.. and they can show who they are. Much like having Cutie Marks..BRONIES REPRESENT!

Sense of Humor.. Sense of Accomplishment.. Sense of Pride.. Sense of Shame. I find that these sense tend to mean more than my ability to sense whether or not I am going to puke on you. A sense of humor is something that is subjective though.. what one person thinks is funny another person might find to be shameful..

Is this funny?

What about this?

I find them to be funny.. I am sure that there is someone out there who senses that they are shameful, or annoying.. they are wrong.. but you know.. senses and stuff.

I am also a big fan of a sense of wonder..

OMG WOW! How does that work! WOW! I mean.. if you were the ICP.. you would say it is a Miracle.. but yea.. it is science..

This is a better video about Miracles..

There is a theory that our memories are also tied to sense. With the most strongest one being tied to smell. However, I feel, in my personal experience.. sound and music does this for me more. I lost my virginity to this song..
It is however, a song that every time I listen to it I cry. These aren't tears of happiness or sadness.. or whatever.. this is just a song that makes people emotional. I was dinking around the internet and I found this version of the same song..

I didn't cry when I heard it but I did feel a sense of completion with that time in my life.

Well, that is all for now, I am going to go feel a sense of accomplishment, by playing Animal Crossing, eating pancakes and cuddling. :D
